Prof. Dr. Koenraad Debackere
Chairman of the board
Dr. Debackere is Professor at K.U. Leuven and Managing Director of K.U. Leuven R&D. He is Chairman of the Gemma Frisius-Fonds, the seed capital fund of K.U. Leuven, a partnership with Fortis Private Equity and KBC-Investco. He was an ICM-fellow and a Fulbright-fellow at MIT Sloan School of Management. He is a member of the STIGON-program committee of NWO, the Dutch Research Organization, that provides pre-seed money to life science projects at Dutch universities. He also is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Dutch Genomics Initiative.

Dr. Ignace Lasters
CEO of AlgoNomics and Managing Director of Beagle. Dr. Lasters has over 20 years industrial experience in protein engineering and structural bioinformatics. Prior to being director protein engineering at Corvas International (San Diego), he was responsible for the protein design group of PGS (currently Aventis CropScience). In 1995, he founded the structural bioinformatics and protein engineering consulting company Beagle, and joined the Genscope subsidiary of Perkin Elmer (currently Applera). Dr. Lasters received his Ph.D. in chemistry at the Free University of Brussels.

Ms. Els Hubloux
Els Hubloux is an investment manager at KBC Private Equity, the private equity arm of the KBC Banking and Insurance Group. Before joining KBC Private Equity she built up experience in pharmaceutical R&D (Abbott and Merck) and equity research (KBC Securities). She studied chemical engineering at the Free University of Brussels. Current and former observer and directorships include: 4AZA, Baekeland II, the seed-capital fund of the University of Ghent, BI3, the seed-capital fund of the University of Brussels, Capricorn Venture Fund II, Peakadilly and Vives, the seed-capital fund of the Université catholique de Louvain.

Prof. Dr. Zeger Debyser
Dr. Zeger Debyser heads the division of Molecular Medicine at the KU Leuven. Prior to become Associate Professor in Biochemistry at the KULeuven and the KULAK, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Medical School, USA, in 1992-1993 and a postdoctoral fellow at the Rega Institute for Medical Research (KULeuven).Zeger Debyser received his MD degree in 1990 and his Ph.D. in 1994 both from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U.Leuven) in Belgium. He authored more than 80 scientific publications and is co-inventor on 7 patent applications.

Dr. Raf Moons
Dr. Raf Moons is an investment manager at Fortis Private Equity, the captive venture capital arm of Fortis. Before joining Fortis Private Equity he worked as industrial advisor at the business development group of IMEC and as scientific researcher at the K.U.Leuven. Dr. Moons holds a Ph.D. in physics and an MBA, both from the K.U.Leuven. He is member of the Board of Directors of Acunia, AltaLine Technologies, ISW, Luciad, PharmaDM, Synes, and XenICs.

Dr. Mark Vaeck
Dr. Vaeck is Chief Executive Officer of Actogenix, a biopharmaceutical company based in Belgium. Dr. Vaeck has 19 years of experience in the biotechnology industry and has held senior management positions at several biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, including COO of Ceres Inc., a genomics company based in Malibu, California, CEO of Keygene, a plant biotechnology company in The Netherlands and CEO of Ablynx, a Belgium base biopharmaceuticals company. He also has held management positions at EuroCetus (Chiron Corp.), UCB Pharma, and PGS. Dr. Vaeck received his Ph.D. from the Free University of Brussels.

Mr. Jan Heyse
Mr. Jan Heyse is investment manager at Koceram, an independent private equity company. Previously, Mr. Heyse worked in the telecommunications and semiconductor industry as an independent management consultant and in various positions at Alcatel. He holds an Msc. in electrical engineering from the University of Ghent and an MBA from the Vlerick Leuven Ghent Management School. He is member of the Board of Directors of several companies.
