Financial history
Founded in June 1999, AlgoNomics is a private company that raised over €
4.5 M in venture capital to date. The main shareholders are Gemma Frisius Fund
(K.U. Leuven), Baekeland II Fund (U.Ghent), Flanders Institute for Biotechnology, Fortis Private Equity, KBC Investco and TrustCapital Technology.
AlgoNomics' research is supported by government grants from the Flemish government
(IWT) and the European Commision for the implementation of its core research
program, totaling € 3.5 M to date.
Investors
Gemma Frisius Fund K.U.Leuven (GFF, BE): GFF is a seed
capital fund, founded in 1997 as a joint venture involving
the K.U.Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven), the
'Almanij KBC' Group and the 'Fortis' Group. The objective
is to stimulate the creation and growth of university
spin-off companies.
Baekeland Fund II:
is the university capital fund of the Ghent University, assisted by investment managers from KBC Private Equity and Fortis Private Equity Belgium.
Baekeland Fund II invests in some ten different, mainly high-tech companies that have grown out of research labs at Ghent University, Hogeschool Gent, Arteveldehogeschool or Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen.
VIB: is a public research institution dedicated to conduct frontline research in fields such as angiogenesis, immunology, oncology, neurobiology, infectious diseases, microbiology, plant sciences, protein chemistry, bioinformatics and system biology. VIB has worldwide collaborations with academia and industry and (co-)founded start-ups such as Devgen, CropDesign, Ablynx, Pronota, Actogenix and Solucel.
Fortis Private Equity (Fortis Group, BE): Fortis Private
Equity was established to provide venture capital and
private equity to SME's in search for accelerated internal
or external growth, to MBO's, or MBI's, to family owned
business looking for restructuring in all stages of
development.
KBC Private Equity (KBC-group, BE): KBC Private Equity handles the
private equity activities of the KBC Group, specializing in traditional sectors,
ICT and life sciences, and co-operates with the equity analysts of KBC Securities,
Peel Hunt and Patria.
TrustCapital Technology (BE) is the technology division of TrustCapital Partners.
TrustCapital Partners is an independant private equity and venture capital firm
quoted on Euronext. Trustcapital has a widely diversified portfolio of companies
both in traditional industries as well as in lifescience and ICT.
